Is mise.en.place free?
Yes, mise.en.place is free to download.
What platforms is the app available on?
mise.en.place is available on iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android. Download from the App Store or Google Play.
How do I reset my password?
On the login screen, tap "Forgot password?" and enter your email. We'll send a 6-digit code to reset it. Check your spam folder if you don't see it within a few minutes.
Can I import recipes from other apps or websites?
Yes. When creating a recipe, tap "Paste a recipe" and paste the recipe text from any source. Our smart parser will extract the title, ingredients, and steps automatically.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings > Your Data > Delete Account. You'll need to type "DELETE" to confirm. This permanently removes your profile, recipes, posts, and all data. This cannot be undone.
How do I export my data?
Go to Settings > Your Data > Export all your data. This generates a CSV file with your profile, cook history, recipes, posts, comments, follows, and heat events.
How do I report a user or post?
Tap the three-dot menu on any post or profile and select "Report". Choose a reason and add optional details. We review all reports within 24 hours.
What is Heat?
Heat is our points system. You earn Heat every time you cook, with bonuses for trying new recipes, adding photos, rating dishes, and hitting your weekly cooking goal. Your streak grows when you cook consistently each week.
Can I make my account private?
Yes. Go to Settings > Account > Private account. When enabled, only approved followers can see your posts and recipes. Your profile remains visible but your content is hidden.
How do I change my weekly cooking goal?
Go to Settings > Cooking Preferences > Weekly cooking goal. Once set, your goal locks for 7 days to keep your streak meaningful. After that, you can change it anytime.
Troubleshooting
App won't load
Force-close the app and reopen. If the issue persists, check your internet connection and try again. Still stuck? Email us.
Photos not uploading
Make sure you've granted camera and photo library permissions in your device settings. Large photos may take a moment on slower connections.
Not receiving notifications
Check Settings > Notifications in both the app and your device settings. Make sure notifications are enabled for mise.en.place.
Can't sign in with Google
Make sure you're using the same Google account you signed up with. If you signed up with email, use the email login instead.
